In Gulf of the Island and in the waters of the stupendous Bergeggi Island Marine Protected Area, for the twelfth year the spotlight will turn on the more than 2 thousand committed swimmers Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October - Race course at the Bahia Blanca Baths in Spotorno.
That of the Gulf of the Island it will be the final stage of the circuit that touched the Sardinian San Teodoro and the Garda area Sirmione.
Open water swimming is a discipline that is arousing growing interest and which, even on the occasion of the recent European Championships in Rome, has been able to give us intense emotions sealed by prestigious medals.
Friday 30 September at 11 am in the Council Chamber of the new headquarters of the Municipality of Spotorno, in Piazza Carlo Stognone, the Municipalities of the Gulf of the Island (Spotorno, Bergeggi, Noli, Vezzi Portio), TriO Events and the Isola Marina Protected Area of Bergeggi will present the international open water swimming event, with the patronage of the Liguria Region and with the partnership of Jaked.
Among the guests of the meeting, veterans of the continental championship, the technician and television commentator Luke Sacchi, already bronze in the 400 medley at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, and Matthew Furlan, athlete of the Italian National team and coach of the Swimtheisland Academy. In the special camp designed for all levels, from 28 September to 2 October in conjunction with the event (sharetheroad.it ), the Friulian cross-country skier of the Navy will be accompanied by the La Spezia Simone Menoni, former national team and coach several times at the helm of the Open Water Youth National Team. During the weekend at the start of the Super Combined Swim, together with Furlan, the champion Geneva Taddeucci of the Sports Group of the State Police, after the European medals in blue in the waters of Ostia, silver in the 10 km and gold in the relay.
THIS IS THE COMPETITION PROGRAM
we will start Saturday October 1 with the 800mt challenges to really involve everyone: with the Family Team Event mixed teams composed of 2 or 3 members, with the Sprint Challenge lovers of short distances and with the MWM (Man-Woman-Man) Relay relay fans. The icing on the cake, the races KID'sTHEISLAND on 100m (6-7 years), 200m (8-9 years), 400m (10-12 years), while at the end of the day the Short Swim (1.800m).
Sunday October 2, on the other hand, evocative awakening at dawn with the magic Sunrise Swim (1.100mt), the non-competitive collective swim followed by a tasty breakfast, which characterizes every Swimtheisland appointment. The competition will be back with the Classic (3.500mt) and the Long Swim (6.000mt). Two formats will then give long-distance loyalists a hard time: the Combined Swim (Short and Classic) and the novelty Super Combined Swim (Classic and Long). LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT
"The Circular of the Gulf" will guarantee the public transport shuttle service connecting the localities of Noli, Spotorno and Bergeggi to each other and to the race field.
