Departure from the Pharmacy of Spotorno

The route begins in front of the Palace where Pope Pius VII stopped to rest in 1807, at the time when Spotorno was just a small village of sailors and farmers. With the arrival of the train everything changed and Spotorno became an important seaside resort: the first bathers arrived, the English, and with them the writer DH Lawrence, famous for his novel “Lady Chatterley's Lover”. Famous guests were also the poet Camillo Sbarbaro and the director Alberto Lattuada who shot the film "La Spiaggia" here..
